Hi Clarissa
Just a quick question. Can you take vitex and maca at the same time? I stopped taking the vitex but my moods got really bad again.. I still get depressed in the last week of my cycle no matter what I take but I certainly don't need the aggro feelings as well lol. So I have restarted on the vitex. I was wondering if Maca may also help with everything and hopefully increase libido which is non-existant. I have given up on the idea of TTC as nothing has happened on that front since my last m/c Dec 1 06. At 43 I figure my body is saying enough is enough. Thanks for any insight Judy |

Thank you for the info :)
I am not sure about the Cream though. I have a wild yam cram I got from Natures Works and every time I have tried to use it after 2-3 days I end up with a really bad rash/ excema and want to just rip my skin off. Anna's Wild Yam? something like that. I may just stick to vitex for a while again and see how I go. It such a trying time to find the right balance of everything lol. Thank you for your advice. |

Hi,
Maca is not a very commonly used here in Australia and from my own research on maca benefits the male and sperm production and has a natural affinity with testosterone production. It is not as strong as the other phytoestrogen herbs like Vitex, black cohosh, False unicorn root. It acts mainly to nurture the pituitray gland so that is produces the normal amount of hormones.
As far as I am aware it doesnt promote more oestrogen, preogesterone etc and wont encourage the release of these hormones during specific phases of the cycle for a woman as does vitex, wild yam, FUR etc so not sure if its actually a fertility herb as such or more a food (as it belongs to the postato family) with some nurturing effects for the body's endocrine system. Like oats acts to calm the nervine system. It's also a food and a herb but acts mainly to nourish the bodies sytems with a special affinity with the nervous system, so works well for anxiety and stress.

So can you please confirm if it's safe to use Maca Powder and Vitex together i've been trying to concieve for three months now and have had problems with cysts and inflammation on the cervix. Does this affect trying to fall pregnant. The doc seems to think cysts come and go with my cycle though this cyst i have had on the right hand side is around the 4 to 5cm big and is quite large.
Very concerned

I used maca as a libido enhancer. Didn't like it though. Not only did it give me sweaty hands, my chest and armpits were sweaty
almost 24/7! So I dont recommend it. Anyway, I stopped using Maca, hoping that I would be better
after a few months. was under the impression that I lost my interest for sex
due to a bad divorce.. but it has been 4 months and I still can't seem to get
it up. I read this article-
http://www.testosterone-for-men.com/Libido-Enhancers.php stating that
"you will find that years later you will still suffer from a lack of
sex-drive and the inability to get or maintain an erection if you do not have
your condition treated today." So I can't just wait it out??
